BERKELEY AMEND

A CAMPAIGN TO REFORM
NUCLEAR ENERGY POLICY IN BERKELEY

Our grassroots group has launched a community ballot initiative to modernize
Chapter 12.90 of the Berkeley Municipal Code.

Our goal is to collect 3500 signatures by September 10th in order to place the proposed measure before the voters of Berkeley during the 2026 general election.

The core message of this campaign text is this:

Nuclear Energy is GOOD
Nuclear Weapons are BAD

The amendments to the City Code would:

1.  Align with international diplomatic efforts and UN treaties to prohibit nuclear weapons
2.  Continue the City’s prohibition of engaging in business with entities working primarily for nuclear weapons
3.  Lift restrictions on, and recognize the importance of, peaceful nuclear energy applications
4.  Strengthen Berkeley’s leadership as a City advancing modern science and human prosperity policy
